The Foundation started out as a small not for profit organisation and has focussed on education and human development projects which has included projects with deaf people in Slovakia, social justice projects in Romania and Ukraine, and education and capacity development in Belarus and Latvia. Additional small projects have been supported or initiated by BFF in the aforementioned countries as well as in Peru, Great Britain and Ireland.
The Brian Faul Foundation is named in memory of Brian Faul who died in 2003. Brian was a family man who as part of his everyday living kept the values of respect and human dignity. Like so many others, Brian enabled people to feel included and not isolated or alone. As the Foundation is committed to social justice and social inclusion it was felt appropriate to name the Foundation in his memory. Brian represents the ordinary person, doing ordinary things to help other people.
